The Amazingly Versatile Uses of Clay

Discover the natural benefits from the use of clay:

  • Weight loss/cellulite reduction

  • Softer, younger looking skin

  • Chemical, heavy metal, radiation detoxification

  • Acne reduction

  • Rapid wound repair

  • Stop bleeding

  • Internal organ detox

  • Gut repair

  • Joint rehabilitation

  • Mineral nutrition

  • Many other uses

Mixing Sacred Clay & Black Beauty

In a Bath:

Use a 2 to 1 ratio

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) Sacred Clay to 1/8 (30 ml) cup Black Beauty is standard.

  • Optionally, 1/2 cup (120 ml) Sacred Clay to 1/4 (60 ml) cup Black Beauty (Generally 1/8 cup (30 ml) of Black Beauty is sufficient regardless the amount of Sacred Clay, although more does increase the vitalizing energy felt from the bath and its detoxification potency)

On the Skin:

Use a 16 to 1 ratio (lower ratio of salt to clay prevents salt burns on the skin with prolonged exposure)

  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) Sacred Clay to 1 tsp. (5 ml) Black Beauty

  • 1 cup (240 ml) Sacred Clay to 1 Tbsp. (15 ml) Black Beauty

  • Add water carefully: 2 parts clay mixture to 1 part water until you achieve a thick paste suitable for spreading easily. Then add by the drop to achieve an ideal spreadable mixture.

  • Optionally, coconut oil or castor oil, or other oils may be used in place of water.

  • Optionally, an herbal tea (like comfrey, white oak bark, witch hazel, etc.) containing the desired therapeutic benefits may be used in place of water as well.

8 Ways to Apply Clay to the Skin

1. Facials

  • With clay and water only

  • With clay and coconut oil

  • With Black Beauty in the facial clay mix (16 to 1 ratio only)

  • Removes and closes black head pores

  • Draws out toxins responsible for acne (indicating a toxic liver) and rapidly heals the blemished skin

  • Reduces acne scarring with regular use

  • Reduces skin redness/inflammation

  • Helps shrink spider veins (indicating a spleen imbalance)

2. Clay Baths

  • Even 1-2 times or more per day when necessary (like during a crisis)

  • Save your clay at the bottom of the tub (if it is practical in your household) by placing a washcloth over the drain

  • How much clay? – 1/4 cup to a pound or more, building gradually

  • It is advisable to take Clay Baths before and after saunas (infra-red, dry or steam saunas) to increase the detoxification effectiveness

  • The first brief (10 minute) bath draws toxins to the surface. The sauna releases those toxins via sweat. The last clay bath (10 or more minutes) clears what is near the surface of the skin that did not get out during the sweat. (Sweat Therapy with Clay Baths)

3. As a Shampoo and Body Slurry

  • Use a plastic container with a lid to hold your clay paste for daily use

  • Shampoo: Brief exposures of the hair to the clay will draw some of the oils from the hair, leaving it silky soft. Sometimes this is all that is needed to serve as a shampoo.

  • Extended exposures without conditioning will tend to dry the hair out too much

  • Complete rinsing of clay particles from the hair and brief exposure is essential in this case to prevent frizzy or stiff hair

  • Body Slurry: Rubbing clay paste on the skin (after wetting the body down) in a shower or just before a clay bath makes for an excellent quick Body Wrap effect

  • Softens the skin as it detoxes the immediate skin surface and subcutaneous fat just below the surface

  • Helps maintain clear skin and reduced redness or acne by removing the subcutaneous toxins delivered to the skin by the liver for removal through sweat

4. Manna Mist as a Hair Conditioner

  • Manna Mist is concentrated Ormalite clay water

  • Lightly mist the hair, whether wet or dry, with Manna Mist to increase soft, silky texture and greater manageability

A note about clay discoloration on shower walls and tubs:

Sacred Clay helps clean the soap scum from the tub or shower if rinsed quickly after use.

During a clay bath oils from the body will often form an oily ring around the water line, especially during your first 3-5 baths. (One former auto mechanic found an 1/8" layer of oil on the bottom of his first clay bath.) Rings around the waterline wash off easily.

It is best to rinse clay off of shower walls and tub when finished to avoid orange spots from the iron in the clay oxidizing while wet if left for several hours.

Old plastic tubs with scratches are likely to show some orange discolorations due to the iron in the clay oxidizing.

5. Foot Baths

  • Foot Baths with 2 tablespoons (30 ml) Sacred Clay or 1/2 of a Bath Packet

  • Electric Foot Baths with Sacred Clay (use less salt in the water when adding the clay since the clay already contains some electrolytes needed to achieve the desired voltage)

  • One person soaked his feet and calves in clay water in a tall plastic container daily, thereby alleviating open wounds on his feet within 5 days

6. All Night Foot Packs

  • Apply a thin layer of approximately 1/8" (3-4 mm)

  • Wrap with a damp cotton gauze or cheese cloth

  • Wrap in plastic wrap (optional) leaving the toes free to breathe

  • Cover with a pair of socks

  • Reusable –  All Night Foot Poultice Kit

Clay Packs on the Body for Detox and Wound Healing

  • Head, knee, liver, spleen, etc.

  • Apply the Sacred Clay with or without Black Beauty (16:1 ratio only)

  • Wrap with a moist cotton gauze, cheese cloth, or washcloth

  • Wrap in plastic wrap to retain the moisture

  • Leave on for as long as is comfortable, even overnight, if desired

  • Application of Sacred Clay on open wounds, brown recluse & other types of spider bites, bed sores, and the like have been successful at accelerating the healing of the wound and repair of the skin

Full Body Wraps

  • Apply Sacred Clay with or without Black Beauty 1/16-1/8 inch (2-4 mm) over as much of the body as is practical

  • The easy method – wrap in an old sheet. A spa might wrap you in a moist gauze

  • Stay warm and comfortable for 30-60 minutes

  • Dry clay may crumble off on the way to the bath (vacuums up easy)

  • Advisable to take a clay bath following a Body Wrap to remove toxins close to the skin surface drawn up by the clay wrap

As a Deodorant

  • Manna Mist (This is Ormalite water in a spray bottle)
    or
  • Sacred Clay (Use a very light clay/water mixture using just cloudy clay water. It becomes invisible, yet safely inhibits odors)

  • Safer than the chemicals (hormone disruptors) in most fragrances, deodorants, dryer sheets, shampoos, soaps, and detergents
