Over 10 Ways to Use Sacred Clay for Health Maintenance

Clay & water are the most ancient health remedies of all time for both human and animal. It is my belief that they will be among the ultimate remedies of the future as well.

The sources for all four of our personally harvested clays: the Sacred ClayOrmaliteAquiTerra, and Vitallite, were discovered within a few miles of Crater Lake, Oregon, long revered by many as a sacred site and prized for its pristine beauty.

The ley lines and vortex surrounding Crater Lake infuse the silica matrix of the clays, adding electrical power and mystique to their already remarkable properties.

Sacred Clay Compared to Other Clays

Unlike sodium bentonite and a few other clays, Sacred Clay will not swell or clump when mixed with water.

It will not clog your drain pipes like a sodium bentonite.

It is safe for both city water pipes and septic tanks (enhancing friendly microbes in the septic system).

It mixes easily, goes on easily, and comes off easily with water.

It makes an exceptional clay facial, clay bath, body wrap, and clay poultice (a body pack).

The clay helps soothe stomach distress from bacterial overgrowth, H Pylori, or food poisoning.

It also makes for an excellent tooth paste/powder providing benefit to both gums and teeth, reducing plaque, and detoxing the mouth.

It can be consumed with other natural supplements and with food, as it improves digestion and helps make other nutrients more bioavailable (due to the inherent silica-based ligands formed from the clay when added to water). Ligands are essential for nutrient delivery to the cells.

It is a very effective detoxifying clay (one former auto mechanic client discovered a oil slick 1/8 inch thick on the bottom of his first Sacred Clay bath). The clay has a natural ability to remove both chemicals and heavy metals, with clay baths and clay body wraps proving to be two of the most effective, yet gentle methods of removing both, surpassing even that of standard chelation therapy approaches.

I have a great amount of respect for clays of all types. All clays, in my opinion, have value and offer some of the most effective healing powers known to man.

The descriptions below about Sacred Clay do not rule out the use of other clays (whether ours or those provided by others) with benefits in unique areas (like the Ormalite for its ormus content, or Vitallite for its ability to provide that 'second wind' during an intense workout, or AquiTerra for slowing the bowels when needed).

Yet, my experience is thus far proving that Sacred Clay stands out as having the most broad spectrum of benefits to human, animal, water, and soil alike. Sacred Clay's unique clay composition described below is likely responsible for its broad spectrum of benefits.

Each of these areas of benefit are discussed in the Sacred Clay Instructions for Use article (from which this description is extracted). (See Clay Comparisons for a more complete assessment of the most popular clays today.)

What form does the Sacred Clay come in?

At this point, Sacred Clay comes in a dry powder form, not a damp pre-mix. The clay bulk powder and the clay in the capsules are the exact same clay.

The clay in the Bath Kit and the dry powder form for internal use are also the same clay.

The agricultural version of Sacred Clay is called Silica Rich. It utilizes the balance of the bulk material following the extraction of Sacred Clay.

Silica Rich is composed of the same source material but is sifted to 1/4 inch in size (4760 microns) and smaller, whereas Sacred Clay is 325-500 mesh and smaller in particle size (44 & 28 microns and smaller) with a percentage as small as 1 to .2 microns. ("Mesh" indicates "number of holes per inch" while accounting for the diameter of the wire mesh itself until you get too small a particle for screens.)

This means Sacred Clay will generally have particle sizes no larger than 44 microns (325 mesh), with approximately 35-50% being less than 2 microns (6,000 mesh), yet a certain percentage will be as small as .2 micron (60,000 mesh) based on electron microscope analysis.

What kind of clay is Sacred Clay?

The Sacred Clay shows a very complex clay mineralogy, each aspect of which contributes to the clay's remarkable properties and such a wide band of usage.

Sacred Clay is dominated by rectorite (R1 & R3 mixed layer illite/smectite), montmorillonite, illite, with lesser amounts of pyrophyllite, chlorite, kaolinite, and jarosite (hydrated iron sulfate).

This unusual clay is a natural product of hydrothermal alteration (the interaction of underground boiling lava and aquifer related steam and pressure) coupled with sulfur related weathering.

The composition of clay mineralogy will change from cubic foot to cubic foot due to the fact that Nature is not uniform, yet the greater portion of the deposit will have a fundamental rectorite/smectite foundation. Some of the minor clay portions will vary or be absent based on the unique location and depth.

It was once reported to us based on a 1980's geological report that the clay was predominately pyrophyllite, but our own geological analysis reveals that it is predominately a rectorite/smectite with the smectite portion showing characteristics of montmorillonite and pyrophyllite, but in different proportions than indicated in years past.

This is the same clay and same deposit location, just reaching to deeper levels as the upper levels are consumed.

Vegetable Capsules

We currently use vegetable capsules made from pine bark (not the resin)

Several years ago, after discovering the toxicity of all vegetable capsules, we switched from V-Caps to Gelatin caps.

All vegetable capsules that we knew of at the time were using a derivative of pine tree resin made by Dow Chemical, or an extract made from corn. Pine resin, in quantity, is difficult to digest and stresses the liver and kidneys. This is particularly true for those who take a lot of capsules (like we did). In addition, we felt we could not trust Dow Chemical to make a health product.

We experienced numerous sharp needle prick sensations which gradually diminished after discontinuing the use of the V-Caps purchased from two different manufacturers. “The pricklies” as we called them merely reinforced our belief that we needed to employ a more conscious company to make our vegetable caps.

While our bodies were telling us something was wrong with these capsules, we did not discover why until the manufacturers revealed to us the source of their ingredients and some of their additives (sorbitol used by one manufacturer being the most problematic causing several kinds of digestive disturbances. Undisclosed lubricating sprays during the manufacturing process may also have contributed to the side effects observed).

A corn extract would almost certainly be altered by GMO’s (genetically modified organisms) and proved to be fragile and weak during the filling process. So we switched to the standard gelatin capsules. Gelatin is actually a long-standing Chinese remedy for digestive disturbances and other health conditions. We chose to use gelatin capsules for many years as it was the safest variety of capsules available. We have since found a safe vegetable alternative: vegetable capsules made from just pine bark.

It is candida yeast free, non-GMO, and there are no toxic chemicals involved in growing, harvest, or extraction. There is no production waste to damage the environment. We feel we are now providing you the best vegetable capsule available on the market today.

Can I take the Sacred Clay if I am on pharmaceutical drugs?

As a general rule, Sacred Clay will reduce the availability of petro chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, and other toxic substances (the primary ingredients in most pharmaceuticals), and thus reduce the purposes for which the medication is taken.

In some instances, especially in the case of antidepressants and high blood pressure drugs, removing drugs from your system too fast can result in undesirable withdrawal symptoms (as a result of their dependance-promoting actions).

In this case, you have a few options:

Sacred Clay can be taken 1 or more hours before or after a medication, so as to allow the action in the body of the medication to take effect before introducing a detoxifying, balancing nutrient source.

If withdrawal symptoms reveal themselves (see the Side Effects sheet on the med from your pharmacist), then either extend the length of time between taking the med and Sacred Clay, or use Sacred Clay externally (baths, body packs, facials, etc.) and consider a few mineral options that typically do not interfere with the action of a medication.

In this instance, we recommend with Ancient Mineral Blend, Ormalite, and where salt is acceptable to the system, Himalayan Salt in the crystal form and in the form of Sole Seawater Brine Solution. These typically will not interfere with the action of a medication in your system.

Since most drugs imbalance the body in their effort to suppress a symptom, the body answers this pressure with a counterbalancing response in an effort to maintain balance or equilibrium. When the clay removes the drug, the body’s counterbalancing response can cause a worsening of the symptoms that the drug was designed to suppress. For example, one on high blood pressure drugs may experience a skyrocketing of their blood pressure; one on antidepressants may experience deeper depressions, even suicidal tendencies ─ all of this due to the absence of the drug, having left the system before the body could make the adjustment back to normal on its own. It works similarly to letting the pressure off of a compressed spring causing it to jump like a Jack-in-the-Box.

It is generally not advised to withdraw from addictive drugs too fast (no faster than 10% per week, or longer if you have been on the drug for several years) due to the potentially severe withdrawal reactions that may occur. Get competent professional supervision or advice in all instances. One worthy reference book on the subject is Your Drug May Be Your Problem: How and Why to Stop Taking Psychiatric Medications by Peter R. Breggin & David Cohen.

Will the clay remove good nutrition from the body if herbs, vitamins, etc. are taken with the clay?

No. In fact, due to the Sacred Clay’s amorphous silica content and abundant mineral composition, the clay will actually make minerals and other nutrients more bioavailable. Sacred Clay makes an excellent companion to other natural foods and supplements.

In contact with water, amorphous silica forms orthosilicic acids. Orthosilicic acid is the only form of bioavailable silicon known for humans and is required in the formation of collagen, bone density, as well as the use of calcium and other nutrients in the body.

In seawater and Himalayan Salt, silicon exists primarily as orthosilicic acid (H4SiO4). Bioavailable orthosilicic acids are recognized as central to slowing or reversing the effects of aging. Orthosilicic acid is a ligand that acts as an escort for minerals and nutrients through the cell wall. Without ligands to move nutrients across the cell wall, even plant-based nutrients will not be bioavailable. Other common ligands (nutrient escorts) include citric acid, humic acid & fulvic acid.

How does Sacred Clay both nourish the body and pull out heavy metals at the same time?

The clay will naturally remove heavy metals as it adds beneficial minerals back into the body as nourishment due to the process of compounding. Heavy metals are converted into silicates and other harmless, or even biologically beneficial compounds when clay is added to the diet.

All metals and minerals are either supported or counteracted by other minerals. When full spectrum mineral sources (like clay, sea salt, seaweeds, horsetail, nettles, alfalfa, etc.) are added to the body, an abundance of counterbalancing minerals becomes available to the body for compounding. The counterbalancing minerals bond with the isolated heavy metals converting them into compounds and making them either unavailable to the body or beneficial to the body.

A common example of this compounding process is found in the combination of heavy aluminum with silicon (a mineral). The compound is called “aluminosilicate” and is one of the most beneficial compounds for agriculture (and happens to be one of the most abundant of all mineral compounds found in nature). Aluminosilicate is harmless to the human body when ingested, and actually holds one of the secrets to removing heavy (isolated aluminum from industrial pollution) from the body.

Recommended Use of Sacred Clay for Internal Consumption

Clays of all kinds have been consumed for thousands of years. Animals are known instinctively to eat clay when they are sick. It is common in some farming circles to feed their animals clay to improve digestion, improve health and harden the shells of eggs. Clay has been used in hospitals to neutralize drug overdose. Clay is widely recognized as an antidote for food poisoning and inability to sleep(due to the way the minerals nourish the hormonal system). The broad spectrum of minerals in naturally compounded forms makes clay an excellent source of mineral nutrition.

Four capsules equals approximately one teaspoon of powder. A recommended low level use of Sacred Clay is approximately one teaspoon (four capsules) 2-3 times per day (or all at once, thus 1 tablespoon per day, if desired).

A suggested high level use is 2-3 tablespoons per day (12 capsules equals 1 tablespoon).

For added benefits, consume with lemon and salted water by adding a pinch of salt, or one teaspoon (or less) of soley (a saltwater brine solution - see below) to 8 to 32 ounces of water, and drink as desired with the clay capsules, or add the loose clay to the brine & water solution, then shake and swirl before drinking.

How to Make a Salt Soley (pronounced sol-lay') Seawater Brine Solution

The use of sole in conjunction with the clay provides an abundance of electrolytes and minerals to the body. It is highly therapeutic as a daily program. The best salts to use are: Himalayan Salt, Celtic Salt, and Real Salt™ (from the Salt Lake area), although my preference is the Himalayan Salt. Any full spectrum mineral salt will do, but Epsom salt is NOT recommended.

Epsom salt is not a full spectrum mineral salt like the others and is inherently less balanced. The other salts hold 70-84 minerals from the sea, proportioned by Mother Nature Herself, and they can be trusted to be balanced.

Fill a pint jar to about 1/3 with a good quality sea salt (Himalayan, Celtic, Real Salt™) then fill the rest of the way with quality water. Shake and let stand overnight or until the salt in the jar stops shrinking in appearance. (If the salt disappears, just add more salt). As long as salt is still visible and it has stopped shrinking, you will have a perfect 26% seawater brine solution (sole).

If constipation occurs from detoxing with the clay, a stronger soley and water solution can be consumed (or consume with Ancient Mineral Blend and/or Digestive Bitters, both of which have laxative effects). The salt nourishes the body with minerals, adds electrical energy to the body, helps to reduce detox symptoms, and acts as a laxative.

Additional Notes on the Clay

One cup of clay equals 48 teaspoons (16 tablespoons). 12 oz. of Sacred Clay provides approximately two cups or 96 teaspoons (32 tablespoons). Formerly 16 ounces per two cups, Sacred Clay is now being refined to a finer sift, resulting in a lighter and fluffier clay, thus 4 ounces lighter, but the same volume as before.

If you are OK with the taste of the clay, the powder is the better buy. Just stir a teaspoon to a tablespoon in 8-32 oz. of water and swirl the clay before drinking it. Add more water to what’s left on the bottom if necessary, swirl again and drink the rest, or save the last bit for just before bed to help improve sleep. The clay can be added to any green drink or smoothy as well.

Due to the rich electrolyte content in the Sacred Clay, even though the clay itself may test acidic, it will increase the pH of the body to an alkaline state over time (providing the diet also supports an alkaline balance). Alkaline minerals in the clay are utilized by the body to generate alkalinity where needed, while the acidic minerals provide the acid state where needed in the body (like the digestive juices of the stomach). Adding the sole (saltwater brine) to the clay will enhance the electrolyte content all the more and, therefore, its pH building power.

Sacred Clay is a powerful detoxifier. It is recommended that if you suspect you are highly chemically toxic, that you begin with 1-3 Sacred Clay baths before taking the clay internally. Detox reactions may be possible with the first internal use for some, even though this is rare, unless one has been exposed to an extraordinary amount of chemicals, or if one has been for several years, and still is, on hormone replacement. Adding Black Beauty or any type sea salt to the bath water helps prevent or reduce detox reactions.

Taking the clay with the soley water mixture, and keeping the body fully hydrated (to assist in the flow of toxins out of the body), helps to prevent detox reactions as well.

Detox Symptoms and Frequency of Use

Sacred Clay possesses powerful attractive forces which draw chemicals, heavy metals, radiation, petroleum, bacteria and other toxins to itself. The pain and discomfort of detoxing is most often due to toxins only partially removed from the body now hanging out in the tissues or lymphatic system.

If toxins are only partially pulled from the body, leaving some toxins still in the tissues, detox symptoms of low energy, sluggishness, irritability, spaciness, flu-like symptoms, achiness, rashes or an increase in pain, etc. may occur. Once removed, they cease to cause the discomfort.

Due to the abundance of electrolytes (and therefore available ions) in sea salts, salt in the bath water helps minimize detox reactions by speeding the transfer of toxins from the body. Ions are the transport mechanism of substances in and out of the cells. The more ions present in the body, the more efficient the cells are in delivering toxins to the surface of the skin and on into the clay.

If detox symptoms still take place, the best remedy we have found is, surprisingly, another Sacred Clay bath as soon as possible with added salt (or Black Beauty). The second bath usually completes the process of removing enough of the offending toxins to eliminate the discomfort (unless there has been a high exposure to industrial/wartime/pharmaceutical/dental chemicals and heavy metals, which then may take several days or weeks longer, and best accomplished with a clay & herbal support program). Therefore, more frequent clay baths during the first few days of a detox program are preferable (rather than stretching the baths out over time) in order to remove as much of the toxins as soon as possible.

Utilizing many detoxing methods at once with various clays and herbal formulas seems to produce the best results with the least amount of discomfort. Several Five Minute Mouth Swishes (see below) in conjunction with the bath will further speed the removal of toxins from the body.

Sweat Therapy (see below) is also a powerful and effective rapid removal of toxic waste from the body.

Adding Herbal C to one's herbal regimen can facilitate a more fluid removal of toxins due to the ligand (escort actions) of the citric acids in the Vitamin C herbs.

If detox symptoms persist, take another clay bath, or perform a shower slurry (below), as soon as possible and continue repeating the procedures (always with salt or Black Beauty) until the discomfort is completely relieved.

Drinking a full quart of pure water (or with added Sacred Clay, Ancient Mineral Blend, Mineral Manna, or just plain sea salt/soley), also helps the body to flush the toxins from the system faster, easing stress on the liver and kidneys. The extra water helps to dilute the toxic waste assisting the liver and kidneys to process the material.

Sweat Therapy with Clay Baths

In order to achieve the fastest & gentlest success in the area of cleansing toxins from the body, the internal and external use of clay, along with certain herbal teas and herbal formulas, is proving to be one of the more effective measures that can be taken.

One simple sweat therapy method (able to be performed at home) involves adding a nighttime sweat following a hot Sacred Clay bath and short cold shower (just long enough to trigger the body to warm itself up (usually 30 seconds or more and a tolerably cold or lukewarm water stream).

Following the hot clay bath & cold shower, dress in warm cotton pajamas & socks, then get in bed under a few natural fiber blankets to keep the body warm throughout the night. This prolongs the sweating for as long as the body deems appropriate. Sweating usually commences within the hour, or commonly between 2 & 4 AM, and will cease when its job is complete, or until you get up and the body cools back down.

Sweat therapy can be performed nightly as desired until you feel the majority of the toxins have been purged. For most, this purging process can take several weeks, even months, and need not be performed every night. Yet, an improvement in well being and energy is commonly felt after only one night of sweat therapy.

Adding Sweat-Promoting Teas to the Procedure

Additional measures that accelerate the release of toxins includes the consumption of ginger-lemon tea shortly before or during the nighttime bath (cayenne pepper can be added for an extra circulatory boost), and an additional Sacred Clay bath the morning after a nighttime sweat. This post sweat therapy bath draws toxins left on or near the skin out, preventing reabsorption and any possible aggravation of the skin.

Adding Hyssop-Mint Tea to the Cleansing Program

Also, drinking a quart to a half gallon (even a gallon during a serious cleanse) of Hyssop-Mint Tea during a cleansing day or week adds an excellent boost to the overall detoxification effectiveness (especially in conjunction with sweat therapy).

Infrared Saunas Sandwiched Between Two Clay Baths

Short term sweat therapy sessions can be performed with a short Sacred Clay bath prior to an infrared sauna, followed by a second short clay bath (10-15 minutes each). This process stirs up toxins with the first bath, sweats them out during the sauna, and draws the remaining toxins close to the skin or lymph system out with the second bath.

Additional Potential Detox Symptoms

A few people notice increased urination when first taking the clay. This is the body flushing toxins. It will pass, but if it is too uncomfortable, discontinue for awhile or reduce your usage to detox more slowly.

Constipation from detox is experienced by about five percent of the people (most are slightly accelerated). Repeated clay baths or shower slurries, etc., and/or swishes (see below) reduce body toxicity and replenish minerals & electrolytes necessary for proper peristalsis of the bowels. Constipation eventually gives way to excellent or slightly accelerated movements as toxicity is removed from the body and minerals are replenished.

Many notice dark, foul smelling stools during early use of the clay, thick and oily. This is the purging of old fecal matter and old bile from the intestinal walls (a good sign that the process is working as it should). This does go away after a few days, yet may return upon increasing the quantity of clay consumed in a day (like from one tablespoon to two tablespoons over the course of a day).

A few people will experience bowel flushing when taking the clay at first. This too will pass with time. The body is flushing toxic substances from the bowels rapidly in order to protect you from re-absorption. The toxins are likely poisonous enough to warrant rapid removal. Again, further clay baths, even clay poultices on the gut, will reduce the overall body toxicity and shorten detox reactions.

The clay is also rich in electrolytes and therefore provides an abundance of available ions for the movement of toxins through the cell walls and out into the clay. Ions are the transport mechanism necessary for both toxins and nutrients to pass through the cell walls. They are, in a sense, the gatekeepers.

Ions cause nutrients from the clay to move more easily from the clay to places in the body where they are needed most. Adding salt to the clay increases the number of available ions and minerals thereby speeding the removal of toxins from the body as well as the infusion of minerals into the body.

Note: Consuming Earth & Sea Greens or Vital Cleanse & Nutrify daily helps to deodorize the bowels, thus reducing these foul odors, while accelerating the cleansing effects of the overall program.

The Five Minute Clay Swish (see Advisories below)

This is one of the best remedies for the mouth, gums and teeth that I know of. This method also draws toxins from deeply within the gums and roots of the teeth. It is similar to the Ayurvedic Oil-Pulling method, yet with a more powerful pulling agent: the Sacred Clay.

One drawback for some, but not all, has to do with the potential temporary discoloration of some areas of the teeth resulting from the clay bonding solidly to toxic buildup on certain spots of the teeth, particularly if your teeth may be somewhat porous from past deterioration or receding gums. So far, only time and a dental cleaning or polishing works to remove this discoloration. (See advisory below).

For now, to explore the benefits of the Five Minute Swish, add 1 teaspoon of Sacred Clay to 4 ounces (118 ml) of water. Add a tiny scoop (1/32 tsp. or 6 ml) of Ormalite (optional). Add a pinch of high quality sea salt or the sole brine (i.e. Himalayan Salt, Celtic Salt, or Real Salt™), according to taste.

Swish entire contents in the mouth for one minute. (Serves as an excellent pastime while in the shower each day.) Spit out residue. The clay will have absorbed toxins, as well as dissolved heavy metals and bacteria. Repeat 5 times, or as desired.

Rinse mouth thoroughly and brush the teeth with a dab of Sacred Clay on the brush as a final cleaning.

This Five Minute Swish can be repeated once a day or every morning and night. A therapeutic treatment using this method involves performing the Five Minute Swish, five or more times in a row for a rapid detox of chemicals, viruses, parasites, heavy metals and other toxins. Brushing the teeth need be performed only at the conclusion of the last Swish.

Even a One Minute Swish per day helps maintain health gum and teeth.

Be advised
: Typical commercial toothpastes carry Poison Control Warnings on the tube because the chalk used in the paste is actually a toxic aluminum byproduct of the chemical industry. It is placed into toothpaste so the chemical industry does not have to go about the expensive process of disposing of it as a hazardous material. Check your toothpaste labels and switch to a natural toothpaste if you find a Poison Control Warning on it.

No claims are made with regard to the improvements that are possible, yet many have reported how much they like using the clay in this manner in spite of its natural pucker factor and strong taste, (the clay has some astringent properties). If the taste of the clay is too strong for you, simply dilute it more with water or saltwater.

Be advised: For some, but not all
, Sacred Clay will cause a temporary darkening of the teeth in area of receding gums, areas that make contact between teeth when chewing and existing pits. Intake of black tea, green tea, and/or coffee may result in tannin buildup on the surface of the teeth which, along with normal toxin and plaque buildup, is most likely what the clay is bonded to.

The cause of the darkening is probably due to the porous nature of those areas of the teeth, or to the stronger presence of tannins or toxins that collect there. The clay bonds inseparably to the toxin leaving a stain.

The solution is to brush your teeth with a slightly abrasive clay like material. Mineral Manna or Ancient Mineral Blend serve this purpose well. This acts like a dental cleaning. A single brushing tends to remove surface stains. This approach can be used on occasion, but is not recommended everyday, as the grittier clays will also scrub a small amount of enamel off, just like what happens when getting a dental cleaning.

The good news is, consuming the Sacred Clay provides teeth building minerals for the replacement of tooth enamel. It will not fill in a deep cavity (cavities are caused mostly by acidic food and drink, like citrus fruit, sugar, and coffee), but easily strengthens tooth enamel.

Plaque Removal with the Sacred Clay

The above Swish protocol helps to dissolve buildup of plaque on the teeth, as does brushing with Sacred Clay. The simple logic behind the event is that the minerals in the clay bond with the minerals in the plaque, thus removing it from the teeth naturally.

Will the clay cause my fillings or crowns to deteriorate or fall out?

No, the clay removes heavy metals that are in solution (free in the saliva) that have attached themselves to your teeth or absorbed into the membranes of the mouth and gums. It will not deteriorate large pieces of metal (although it may remove the dull oxidized layers of the metal making it shinier).

Amalgam fillings are much more affected by Electromagnetic Frequencies (EMF’s). EMF’s are known to cause metal fillings to deteriorate more rapidly resulting in increased levels of heavy metal toxicity. (All the more reason to be using the clay.)

Be advised
: EMF fields are generated from cell phones, wireless computer technology, cell phone towers, CRT TV’s and computer monitors (the fat ones), cordless telephones, microwave ovens, high tension wires, etc.

With the increase of wireless internet and cell phone usage and the increasing number of cell phone towers being installed without regard for human health, EMF hazards have multiplied many times over in the last 12 months alone.

These are some of the more likely suspected causes of rapid deterioration of fillings in the mouth being reported now in increasing numbers (by non-clay users as well).

As a Toothpaste and Gargle

Sacred Clay provides exceptional cleaning power when used in place of toothpaste.  It also works as a gargle using the same clay from the brushing by just sipping a bit of water to gargle with.

The clay does not suds or foam like normal toothpaste, so it may take some getting used to. It can, however, be added to natural toothpaste to improve its cleaning power.

You may also make your own toothpowder by adding sea salt, essential oils, coconut oil, or other oils to the clay, if desired.

The astringent quality of the clay causes a bit of a pucker when used, yet most people get used to it, or enjoy it because of how clean the mouth feels afterward.

The clay absorbs toxins, including mercury and other heavy metals, and assists in the maintenance of healthy gums and teeth. The rich silica and mineral content in the clay nourish both teeth and gums, providing minerals and restorative properties essential to each.

Once again, for some, but not all, brushing with Sacred Clay will cause a temporary darkening or yellowing of the teeth in the areas of receding gums, joints between teeth, and existing pits for reasons mentioned above

The simple remedy is to brush lightly with a clay-like mineral source that has a bit of grit to it, something like Mineral Manna or Ancient Mineral Blend. This acts similar to a dental cleaning and gets rid of coffee or tea stains as well.

If you are wanting to draw toxins and inflammation from an abscessed tooth, but are concerned about a darkening, simply apply an external poultice on the cheek and neck instead to remove the toxins.

The clay is powerful enough to pull toxins from the gums directly through the cheek and neck tissues and has resulted in a redness of the skin for some as toxins leave the body due to the power of this clay. So be aware of this possibility and boost your immune system with Immune Power or Black Seed Combo to minimize such possibilities.

Another option for tooth inflammation is to take a 4-8 ounce jar with a lid, fill with water, then add 3 tiny scoops of Ormalite Clay to the water. Sip about a tablespoon (15 ml) and swish with it for 1-2 minutes. Many have reported excellent results with this simple procedure.

No claims are made with regard to the improvements that are possible, yet many have reported how much they like using the clay in this manner. Your personal experiences in this area are also welcome.

As a Shampoo

Rubbing a small handful of clay into the hair and leaving it there for a minute or more (as long as you wish), will clean and nourish the hair, detoxify the scalp and reduce unfriendly microorganisms. It leaves the hair soft and manageable. No shampoo needed. Conditioner is recommended as the clay does draw oils from the hair.

Caution: All chemicals in the hair will be absorbed by the clay. This includes hair colorings. Test a small area for a prolonged period of time to see if the clay will change the color of your hair, then use at your own discretion and risk. The results are unknown at this time what changes may occur. There have been no studies done to determine what improvements to the hair and scalp may take place if the Sacred Clay is used in this manner. Common sense says the silica in the clay and the hair are a good match for each other. If you experience improvements and want to share it with us (or with the world) feel free to call or email us with your story.

Clay Bath & Body Slurry

A clay bath is normally accomplished with 1/4 cup of Sacred Clay placed in the water (or first rubbed onto the body for a more profound effect -- this is called a “body slurry”). 1/8th cup of Black Beauty added to the bath water will provide additional electrolytes (from the salts), thus ions, with which to deliver toxins from the body and into the clay.

You can also add 1-2 tablespoons of any sea salt to the water to accomplish a similar result, although Black Beauty has a number of different kinds of salts in it that assist the body this way, as well as provide magnesium and other minerals to be absorbed through the skin.

One to three baths per week comprise the suggested therapeutic frequency. One clay bath per week is the suggested minimum maintenance frequency.

Clay baths can be taken daily if desired, even several times a day during more intense cleansing programs.

A Body Slurry is where you take dry Sacred Clay, place it in a bowl with water at the rate of 2 parts clay to 1 part water. Then wet the body down in a shower or by dipping in the bath water, followed by rubbing the clay all over.

The purpose of the Body Slurry is to get a thicker amount of clay on the skin to generate a magnetic draw of toxins stored in the skin and subcutaneous fat out and into the clay.

Doing so relieves the liver of some of its burden since as the toxins leave the skin area, the liver is then free to unload some of its stored toxins and deliver it to the subcutaneous fat layer for subsequent release by the means of sweat or another Clay Body Slurry.

Clay Body Wrap

A clay body wrap can be accomplished two ways. First as a slurry of clay rubbed all over the body then wrapped in gauze or cheese cloth. Protect the bed with an old sheet, cover with warm blankets, and remain comfortable in bed for 45 minutes or longer, as desired.

Shower off, or better run water in the tub, then wash the clay off into the bath water and soak for 10-20 minutes longer. This procedure draws toxins out of the body left close to the surface of the skin from the wrap, easing potential detox reactions (which may be quite possible for some who have been expose to large amounts of toxins prior in life).

Second, the same basic procedure as above, only use an old sheet to wrap the clayed body in. Just lay the sheet on the bed with enough to one side to pull over the body and secure any loss of clay as it dries. Cover with blankets as needed to remain warm.

Makes for a quick and simple body wrap.

There are two ways to create an even more powerful detoxification experience:

1) Use the convenient, premixed Clay Bath packets. Clay Bath Packet contains: Sacred Clay, Ocean Magnesium, Himalayan Salt, Humic & Fulvic Substances, Vitallite, and Ormalite. A single packet (1/3 cup) is all that is needed for an effective, detox experience;

OR

2)
Add 1/8 cup of Black Beauty along with 1/4 cup of Sacred Clay to the bath water.

Caution: When placing the clay in the water, stay close to the water while pouring, or mix the clay with some water first, then pour into the tub (or rub on your body). The dry powder is very fine and will create a dust cloud that lingers in the air and may cause difficulty breathing. Avoid breathing the dust of this clay while mixing or pouring. If a dust cloud is created, turn the overhead vent fan on and leave the room until clear.

A body slurry done with the clay just before sitting down into the water speeds the removal of toxins closest to the surface. (Best applied in the tub or shower to avoid a mess.) No need to wait to get into the water after rubbing the clay on, unless you want to. The initial detoxing effect takes place electromagnetically and happens immediately.

No herbs have been added to this clay, though one may do so if they wish. The temperature of the water can be as hot or warm or cold as you want it to be, it does not matter with this clay (although excessive heat tends to drain the energy from the body). Just be comfortable. All action is done electromagnetically at the ionic level, and temperature does not affect it that much in this case.

Body/Shower Slurry

When a bathtub is not available or preferred, a one to two minute (or as long as desired) body slurry during a shower is a refreshing way to clear energetic static and surface toxins. Just mix the Sacred Clay and water in a bowl with a seal tight lid (to keep extra shower water out).

Optional: add one Clay Bath Packet to every pound of Sacred Clay, or one teaspoon (5 ml) of Black Beauty per 1/3 cup (80 ml) of Sacred Clay to increase the Shower Slurry detox experience.

Rub this mixture all over the body while standing in the tub, then sit down. Once you are in the tub the clay will easily fall off into the water and continue to draw toxins from the body for the length of the bath. Notice the energetic lift and sense of well-being after a minute or so of rubbing a thin layer of the Sacred Clay onto the body.

A Shower Slurry just before bed is a great way to reduce restless legs and improve sleep. Due to the potency of this clay (especially in combination with Black Beauty), no more than 1/4 to 1/2 cup of clay is needed for an effective detox bath, although if more clay is used the detoxification experience is quite powerful.

Detox reactions can be expected for a few days following, although taking another clay bath is the most common solution, repeating as necessary until the bulk of the toxins causing the reaction are finally out of the body.

The average length of a clay bath is 30-45 minutes as desired. Make the temperature of the water whatever is comfortable. Enjoying the experience adds to the healing.

Be advised
: The Sacred Clay possesses strong electromagnetic forces that bond tightly to toxins. This strong attractive force is evident when the clay bonds to chemical toxins on the palms, fingers, fingernails, or on the feet causing a temporary discoloration. The creases in the skin, the cuticles, and under the nails may turn dark or light grey.

No amount of scrubbing or soap seems to get it off. It will wear off in a day or more by itself.

This is an indication of toxicity that had buried itself in the skin and the clay formed an inseparable bond with it. The toxins were bonded to the tissues, and the clay bonded to the toxins. Soon the skin and toxins are both shed naturally.

Eventually, after a few days or weeks, as the body gets cleared of the toxins, this graying effect will cease to happen and the clay can be handled freely without discoloration. The graying effect, while unpleasant at first, is evidence of the clay’s powerful ability to neutralize harmful substances in the body.

Reuse of the Clay in the Tub

Unless you have reason to believe the clay remaining at the bottom of the tub is excessively toxic (as can happen during the first few baths), the residual amounts of clay left on the bottom of the tub after the water has drained out can be reused requiring less new clay to be added for the next bath. Just place a washcloth in the drain and allow the water to drain out. What’s left can be used again with a little extra fresh clay.

Soap Ring
: Initially, a soft scummy ring of orange-brown may form at the water level. This is most likely the the initial draw of petroleum oils embedded in the skin (from lotions, smog, auto mechanic work, etc.).

It may also partially be soap scum from previous baths being softened by the clay. (One man who had spent 10 years in the automotive repair industry found a 1/8th inch thick oil slick on the bottom of his first Sacred Clay bath, with rainbow colors associated to the oil floating on the water's surface.) An obvious ring was formed around the edge of the bath water.

The clay makes it easier to clean the tub due to the bonding of the clay with the oils or soap, and future clay baths are likely to leave the tub cleaner than usual.

Black Silt on the Bottom of the Tub

The appearance of black silt at the bottom of the tub is, in most cases, just components of the clay that separated out in the water.

In some cases however, this may be the result of toxins that were removed from the body. As a precaution, it is advised to not reuse the clay at the bottom of the first three baths, after which the clay settling on the tub bottom can be reused by adding a bit more clay to each future bath.

Caution
: It has been observed that towels in contact with wet clay for a length of time, if the towel is allowed to remain wet for more than a day or two, may get discolored orange-brown. This does not tend to happen if the towel is allowed to dry just after using, like overnight.

If staining does happen due to the towel being wet for a few days, nothing seems to work to get out these stains (or lack of dye if absorption is the reason). Therefore it is advisable to use old and/or dark towels (and wash cloths as applicable) in conjunction with the use of the clay or allow the towels to dry quickly to prevent staining.

Leaving Clay Residues on the Body and It's Deodorant Effect

Leaving clay residues on the body for several hours (up to a day) after a bath or shower before thoroughly rinsing it off is actually beneficial, with the exception of the towel effect just mentioned.

In fact, a very slight amount of dry clay or liquid solution of the clay rubbed under the armpits helps reduce bacterial growth and body odor.

Foot Baths

Add two tablespoons of the Sacred Clay to a gallon or so of warm water. Soak the feet for as long as desired. Repeat as often in a day as desired as well. Optional: add one tablespoon of Black Beauty.

Be advised
: While one may consider foot baths to be a lighter form of detox than clay baths or body wraps, toxins having to travel from other parts of the body and down through the legs to get to the feet where the pull is coming from can build up in energetically blocked areas of joints or bone or muscle or just may not get to the feet before the foot bath is terminated. The toxins may be left in the tissues and the net result can temporarily be more discomfort after the foot bath than before (like restless leg).

This will not always be the case, but is a possibility, especially if the clay is added to an electric foot bath in place of some of the salt (the Sacred Clay makes for a more powerful electric foot bath).

The solution is to rub clay on the shins and calves to draw toxins out of the skin there before they gets to the bottoms of the feet, thus increasing detoxification and reducing the need for toxins to travel all the way to the feet to get out of the body.

The Sacred Clay and Black Beauty are a powerful combination capable of pulling toxins from deeply within the body. Because a bath provides this powerful draw to take place over most of the body surface at one time rather than at just the feet, more toxins are removed more quickly, and therefore, sooner cease to be a bother.

While clay baths are a more effective detox approach than foot baths, there are times when a foot bath will provide extra concentrated attention on the feet themselves producing remarkable results.

If you are doing electric foot baths, try adding a teaspoon to a tablespoon of Sacred Clay to the foot bath water and salt solution. The reports from personal experience and from others are that the clay further empowers the detoxification process.

All-Night Foot Poultice

Drawing from a popular European practice, an All Night Foot Poultice can serve as an excellent accelerator to any detox/rejuvenation program. Simply mix 1/3 cup (80 ml) of Sacred Clay and 1 teaspoon (5 ml) of Black Beautyplus 3 tablespoons (45 ml) of water.

Spread the mixture over both feet, top and bottom, approximately 1/8 inch (3-4 ml) thick.

Wrap each foot in a moist gauze or cheese cloth, then wrap each foot in plastic wrap to hold the moisture in. Leave the toes free of the plastic wrap to allow the foot to breathe. Put socks on to hold it all together and go to bed.

The next morning, unwrap in the tub or shower and rinse off. Enjoy the lighter, zestier feeling, increasing with each All Night Foot Poultice─ excellent for reducing excess swelling in the feet or calves.

Going Down the Drain

There is no concern about the clay going down the drain. It falls apart easily in water and will not clump or swell like some other clays. (Do not let a bentonite, or other swelling clays go down your drains. The swelling, clumping action of these clays may clog your drain.)

Sacred Clay will not clog your drain and will even help clean up the city’s toxic waste runoff or water recycling centers.

Is the clay safe for my septic system?

If you are on a septic system and the tub water goes into your septic tank, there is no concern for the biology in the tank or the drain fields. Sacred Clay feeds beneficial microbes in the tank improving decomposition efficiency.

If you are concerned however, you may you may want to push a washcloth over the drain as the water goes down to minimize the clay going into the septic, then wipe up the remaining clay and throw it onto your garden or houseplants.

The bulk of any clay settles to the bottom of the tank within a few minutes. The colloidal suspension clears chemicals from the septic water, thus improving the chance of beneficial microbes surviving.

The colloidal suspension will be less than 2 microns in size and is typically smaller than the dirt that goes down the drain from washing garden produce or dirty hands in the sink.

A normal septic clean out removes sediment along with the typical dirt and undigested waste.

Where questions exist, simply use a washcloth or towel to wipe up the remaining clay at the bottom of the tub and throw this clay on your garden, or in your potted plants, or in your compost.

Even the water from the tub will greatly benefit the development of your garden. There is great benefit offered by this clay to plants, produce, and fruit, as well as to the soil’s biology. (This is the reason why Silica Rich has such beneficial effects on the health and growth of plants.)

As a Clay Poultice (Body Pack)

Mix enough Sacred Clay with water to cover the area being treated with 1/4 to 3/4 inch of clay (more on areas of special interest). Wrap the area with a damp gauze or old towel (do not use good towels or material) then wrap that with plastic wrap to keep the moisture in.

Optional: mix one part Black Beauty to 16 parts Sacred Clay. 1 teaspoon (5 ml) BB to 1/3 cup (80 ml) SC

Caution
: It has been observed that towels in contact with wet clay for a length of time may get discolored orange-brown. Nothing seems to work to get out these stains (or lack of dye if absorption is the reason). Therefore it is advisable to use old towels, unneeded cloth or white throwaway rolls of gauze when applying a poultice on the body.

Leave the poultice on for as long as it is still wet, or as long as you can, even overnight, and/or throughout the day, for best results. Repeat if necessary to further the healing along.

The longer the clay remains on and damp, the better and faster it works, though the clay continues to work when dry. Drying of the clay is not necessary to pull toxins because the work is primarily done electromagnetically.

It is acceptable to leave the clay on the body for as long as 12-24 hours, if this were practical. I know of some who have kept the clay on small spots of the body (like a wart, or mole, or cyst) under a regularly changed bandage (like every 24 hours) for as long as two weeks with excellent results.

As a Facial

Same as the poultice: Spritz occasionally with water to keep moist for as long as desired. Even a 20 minute facial will soften the skin and reduce redness, pimples and blackheads.

Some notice achieving a younger looking appearance after a facial with the mixture of Sacred Clay (or even AquiTerra) and an oil like coconut, olive, or moringa oil.

The reason for this is partly due to the saturation of the skin with the oils, but also it is due to the removal of toxins in the skin (a major cause of wrinkles).

At first the clay may make the skin more dry for some, then eventually very soft and smooth. This is due to the pull of toxins to the surface of the skin, then washing off the clay before all of the toxins get removed into the clay. Repeated use of the clay as a facial or body slurry will eventually leave the skin remarkably soft.

Will this clay eliminate wrinkles?

We have observed a softening and tightening of the skin and a slight smoothing of some wrinkles but not all. Adding coconut oil and other oils to the clay and/or skin gives the appearance of wrinkle reduction due to the temporary saturation of the skin with the oil.

Wrinkles are largely due to skin dehydration, toxins, and hormonal imbalances in the body originating from exhaustion of the kidney & adrenals and a toxic liver. So the reduction of wrinkles will be related to how effective you have reduced toxins from the body overall. (This is one reason why raw foodists notice a reduction in aging in the face, given the cleansing effects of fruits and enzyme-rich uncooked vegetables.)

The formation of orthosilicic acids from the silica in the clay (which helps the body make new collagen and build new skin cells, along with the minerals in the clay, may help restore power to the kidney & adrenal glands and may slow down wrinkle development, but we do not claim it to be a wrinkle eliminator.

Earth & Sea Greens, Vital Cleanse & Nutrify, Sea Vegetable Blend, Purify, Hyssop Mint TeaMineral Manna, Deep Earthen Cleanse, and Sacred Clay all help cleanse toxins from the liver, thus throughout the body. In combination with a diet rich in raw fruits and vegetables, but low in fats, proteins, and oils, the aging process is naturally slowed considerably.

To Treat Drinking Water & Improve Body Hydration:

Adding 1/8th teaspoon or more of Sacred Clay to a cup or a gallon of water will absorb toxins, chemicals and bacteria. Sacred Clay reduces the surface tension of water making it more hydrating to the body.

Adding a tiny scoop (1/32 teaspoon) of Ormalite into a cup or gallon of water will restructure the water molecules to something similar to deep underground aquifer water.

Adding Ormalite enhances the water’s nourishing and tonifying properties. Overall body health will steadily improve with this simple mineral rich, hydrating procedure and will greatly complement any other healing program.

Ormalite is in Mineral Manna along with Sacred Clay and Himalayan Salt, each of which provide essential trace minerals and infuse the water with a higher frequency.

Mineral Manna or Sacred Clay are to be consumed only if you are not on pharmaceutical drugs (or separate from meds by one or more hours).

They make an effective daily detoxification protocol. Best used in combination with clay baths, shower slurries, and/or All Night Foot Poultices.

Recommended Low Level Use

An average daily use of Sacred Clay or Mineral Manna is 1 tablespoon consumed at once, or over the course of a day and just before bed to improve sleep.

Recommended High Level Use

2 tablespoons per day, taken all at once, or over the course of a day.
